Wonderful Hawaii - A Delightful Getaway

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:21 am

The Hawaiian Islands are in the top ten list for most famous vacation destinations. Discover so much culture within the islands that it would be impossible to take it all in during one trip. U.S. citizens will not have to fret over passports for this vacation since Hawaii is the 50th state in the union. Culture has no boundaries in this tropical paradise making Hawaii extremely unique.

There are a number islands in Hawaii, but the eight principal ones are the following: Hawai’i, also known as The Big Island, Maui, The Valley Isle, Kaho’olawe, The Target Isle, Lana’i, The Pineapple Isle, Moloka’i, The Friendly Isle, O’ahu, The Gathering Place, Kaua’i, The Garden Isle and of course Ni’ihau, The Forbidden Isle.

The indigenous Hawaiian language of the islands is truly beautiful to listen to, but Hawaii boasts two recognized languages. Both Hawaiian and English are spoken fluently here. Even though use of the first has diminished through the years there has been a recent revival within the culture. Academic institutions are found all over the Hawaiian islands aimed at breathing life back into this rich and lovely heritage.

On the Big Island is found the world’s tallest mountain, Mauna Kea. Although Mauna Kea is identified world-wide as being only 13,796 feet, the exact elevation if measured from it’s foundation about 20,000 feet beneath the sea, is much different. The fact is, at an over-all 33,500 feet its higher than Mt. Everest. Really quite impressive!

Fantastic weather will be found year round, with the lowest temperatures averaging just 60 degrees. It has normal tropical island climate together with slightly less humidity as a result of trade winds which usually blow through all the islands. You will find just two seasons in these islands. The dry season occurs from May until October and the wet time of year develops from October until April.

Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, with airplanes and submarines, sinking or destroying numerous U.S. Naval warships and taking some 2400 lives. ?t is possible to tour and explore the exact site as well as see several old ships still there to this day.

Principal towns on the islands, which are recommended to see, can include Honolulu (which happens to be the capital), Hilo, Haleiwa, Waimea, Kihei, Kailua-Kona, Aiea and Waialua. Each boasts its distinct contribution to a wonderful vacation experience.

If perhaps Pearl Harbor is not enough history for you you’ll also learn a little from all the ancestry to be found scattered through out the archipelago. The most common cultural groups within island society are Scottish, French, Mexican, African, Puerto Rican, Italian, Portuguese, Korean, Irish, English, German, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese and of course Polynesian. But Hawaii has even more to offer than simply just Hawaiian heritage alone.

This short description just isn’t enough to do this tourist location justice. A visit would be needed to really appreciate Hawaii’s natural splendor and heritage - simply ask someone fortunate enough to have spent some time on any of the Hawaiian islands.
